The scam scheme has a specific structure. Fraudsters make calls using fake numbers — the phone screen may display 'PrivatBank 3700' or other official bank contacts. During the conversation, the scammers report suspicious activity detected on the account or threaten to block the card.

'The goal of such calls is simple — to force a person to disclose confidential information or grant access to the Privat24 mobile banking service,' the bank explains.

PrivatBank representatives strongly refuse to provide confidential information over the phone. 'A bank employee will never ask for your PIN code, full card number, security codes from SMS, or your login and password for Privat24 during a phone conversation,' they emphasize.

Experts at the institution note that any request to provide such information over the phone is a clear sign of fraud, even if the caller sounds convincing.

Particular danger lies in the technique used by scammers to spoof caller IDs. This method allows any number to be displayed on the victim's screen, including official bank contacts or even names from the phonebook.

'Even if you see a familiar number or an official bank name on the screen, it could still be a forgery,' warn PrivatBank specialists.

PrivatBank recommends that customers adhere to certain rules when receiving suspicious calls. If you receive a call that concerns you, it is better to end the conversation and call the bank's hotline directly to verify the information.

The bank emphasizes three main security principles: never disclose confidential information over the phone, ignore any attempts at blackmail or intimidation, and always verify information through the bank's official communication channels.
