According to ТСН: The 'Winter Support' program continues in Ukraine. According to government information, most citizens use the 'winter thousand' to pay for utilities and charitable donations, but these funds can also be spent on products. At the same time, there are certain restrictions.

Funds received under the 'winter thousand' can only be spent on Ukrainian products. The system does not allow payment for imported goods and prohibits the purchase of alcohol and tobacco products.

How to receive and spend the 'winter thousand'

The assistance is provided on a virtual card, and you won't be able to withdraw cash. The application for funds can be submitted until December 24, and spent until the end of June 2026. If the assistance is registered through the 'DiiA' app, the funds are transferred to the 'National Cashback' card; if through 'Ukrposhta' - to a special account at 'Ukrposhta'.

Where to spend the 'winter thousand'

Expenses can only be made in stores that correspond to certain MCC codes approved by the Cabinet of Ministers. Payment is available in stores with the following MCC codes:

  • 5411 — supermarkets and grocery stores;

  • 5499 — markets, special assortment, semi-finished products, signature dishes, sales through vending machines.

Initially, this opportunity will be available to buyers of the Fozzy Group retail chains (Silpo, Fora, THRASH!TRASH!, Fozzy) and 'Blizhenko', so currently over 1160 stores are available throughout Ukraine. The list of stores will be expanded.

Can products be bought at the post office?

In the 'Ukrposhta' branches, it is allowed to buy Ukrainian goods, including food products. Several payments can be made in one visit. However, 'Ukrposhta' states that some citizens encounter problems when trying to pay for goods that do not match the permitted categories. Additionally, cash on delivery is not possible for goods from abroad.

In Ukraine, not all goods can be purchased with the 'winter thousand'. Funds are only allowed to be spent on Ukrainian goods and services, as well as in stores that meet the established criteria.

It is important to remember that the 'winter thousand' aims to support the national producer; therefore, compliance with these restrictions contributes to the development of the Ukrainian economy. Under appropriate conditions, the program can become a significant support for many families during the winter period.
