The trade unions have called on the government to raise the living wage and minimum salary in Ukraine by the end of 2025. They believe that this will improve the lives of citizens and contribute to economic recovery.Currently, the minimum wage in Ukraine is 8,000 UAH, but after taxes, employees receive only 6,160 UAH. The proposal to increase the minimum wage was submitted by the trade unions to the Cabinet of Ministers in July. The Ministry of Finance currently asserts that there are no grounds for changes in the budget, citing the stability of economic forecasts and fear of pressure on business. The Ministry of Economy is also calling for careful calculations of potential risks and consultations with all interested parties before raising the minimum salary. The trade unions are confident that increasing salaries will help elevate Ukraine to a European level and improve the country's economy.
