Fuel Price Outlook in Ukraine

According to Novyny.live: According to a forecast by Serhiy Kuyun, director of the consulting firm 'A-95', the price of diesel fuel in Ukraine is not expected to exceed 80 hryvnias per liter, while regular gasoline should remain around 70 hryvnias per liter. Kuyun stated that

"the price of regular gasoline has already peaked and will remain at a level of about 70 UAH/l"
. These projections come amidst significant price volatility in the regional energy market.

As of March 6, 2023, the price for a liter of A-95 gasoline at 'Ukrnafta' stations is 67.99 UAH, at WOG it is 69.99 UAH, and at OKKO and SOCAR it is 70.99 UAH. For diesel, the price at 'Ukrnafta' is 67.99 UAH per liter, at WOG it is 68.99 UAH, and at OKKO and SOCAR it is 69.99 UAH. Notably, diesel prices have already surpassed the 70 hryvnia per liter mark.

Fuel Market Conditions

Despite the rising fuel costs, there is no shortage in Ukraine because filling stations managed to accumulate sufficient reserves. Dmytro Liovushkin, a fuel sector expert, emphasized that

"there is no fuel shortage in Ukraine, as gas stations had time to build up adequate stocks"
. However, increased prices have led to heightened activity and some panic buying at the pumps.

Consequently, Ukrainians can anticipate stable gasoline prices, but should be prepared for potential fluctuations in the cost of diesel. This forecast of steady gasoline prices alongside possible diesel volatility reflects the overall state of Ukraine's fuel market. The existence of sufficient reserves at stations indicates the market is prepared for changes, yet consumers should monitor price dynamics closely, especially for diesel. The situation with fuel prices may impact other economic sectors, particularly transport costs and the price of goods and services.
