Dollar Exchange Rate Forecast: Will the Currency Rise at the End of 2024 and the Beginning of 2025.
The Dollar Exchange Rate May Reach 42.5 Hryvnias by the End of the Year
Economist Oleh Penzin predicts a significant increase in the dollar exchange rate in Ukraine in the near future. In his opinion, by the end of the current year, the American currency may rise to 42.5 hryvnias, and next year - to 48 hryvnias.
Penzin noted that the budget provides for a rate of 45 hryvnias per dollar, and the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) will be forced to take these indicators into account. He also explained that the NBU is the only source of currency supply to Ukraine's internal market through intervention.
"Previously, we had one rate that was laid down in the budget, another that formed on the market. Now, in essence, the only source of currency supply to Ukraine's internal market is the NBU's intervention," he noted.
Recall that the NBU abandoned the fixation of the official exchange rate of the hryvnia against the dollar last year. Since then, the dollar has risen by almost 13% due to numerous factors. The head of the NBU, Andriy Pyshnyy, reported that the bank will continue the policy of controlled flexibility of the exchange rate but currently considers a return to a fully floating value premature.
He also emphasized that the NBU will strive to avoid sharp fluctuations in the exchange rate of the hryvnia against the dollar.
