Putin congratulated Trump and spoke about 'peace' in Ukraine.
Russian leader Vladimir Putin congratulated the newly elected US president Donald Trump and is ready for negotiations regarding the war in Ukraine. This was reported by the propagandists of 'RIA Novosti' citing a meeting of the Security Council of the Russian Federation.
According to information from the Russian publication, Putin stated that a long-term peace in the region is necessary based on respect for the legitimate interests of all peoples. He also emphasized that dialogue with the US would be built on an equal and mutually respectful basis.
CNN reported that Trump has instructed his aides to organize a call with Putin in the coming days after the inauguration, which will take place on January 20.
It is worth noting that Ukraine continues not to engage in direct negotiations with Putin according to the decision of the National Security and Defense Council, as stated by Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga. Experts from the Atlantic Council also provided recommendations for conflict resolution, including strengthening military support for Ukraine and the option of introducing peacekeepers.
