Putin's propagandist outraged by Johnson in Odessa: why Russia did not strike

According to The Sun: Vladimir Putin's propagandist Vladimir Solovyov sharply criticized the Russian army for not carrying out a missile strike on the city during Boris Johnson's visit to Odessa.

On the air of the 'Russia 1' channel, Solovyov claimed that the port city on the Black Sea should have been attacked while the former prime minister was 'there'.

Solovyov expressed:

“Excuse me, but why didn’t we strike Odessa when [Boris] Johnson was there?”
And added:
“I really can’t understand this….”

Retired Russian General Yevgeny Budzhinsky also expressed his displeasure:

“I also do not understand why. When will this political tourism end...?”
Solovyov asked why Finnish President Alexander Stubb, who visited Ukraine last week, was not a target for Russian missiles.

He emphasized that Russia should publicly warn Western politicians about the danger to their lives. Solovyov said:

“Why not officially announce that we do not guarantee the presence of these people on the territory of Ukraine?”
He added:
“They can come at their own risk, but we guarantee their danger in Ukraine.”

Budzhinsky replied:

“Well, you can announce this, or just more actively destroy the railway [they travel on].”

Johnson visited Odessa to boost morale before a conference in Kyiv where peace plans were discussed. He actively opposed the Kremlin, particularly by helping Ukraine with supplies of steel to fight against Russia.

Johnson also previously criticized the 'disgusting' one-sided position of US President Donald Trump towards Putin at a ceremony in Alaska last month. He said:

“Ukraine is the absolutely innocent, wronged party.”
And added:
“We all know that it was ... disgusting to see how Putin was joyfully welcomed in America.”

These statements came against the background of Russia's growing threat to NATO countries and a possible escalation of the situation in Europe. Over the weekend, NATO was forced to scramble its F-16 fighter jet after a Russian plane crossed into Romanian airspace.

The Romanian defense ministry reported that it 'detected a drone in national airspace' and monitored it until it disappeared from radar near the Romanian village of Chilia Veche. Meanwhile, last week Warsaw destroyed 19 Russian drones that entered Polish airspace, leading to the activation of NATO Article 4, which is a step below escalation to war.

This was the first instance after Russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2022, when NATO directly engaged in conflict with Putin's troops, bringing Europe closer to a possible escalation of war. Tusk warned Putin:

“Anyone who in any way decides to attack Poland, Polish territory, or Polish airspace must always reckon with an adequate response.”

According to Zelensky, these drones were a 'test' by Russia to check the response of NATO allies. In response to requests from Poland and Ukraine, the UK promised to ramp up its efforts against Putin's challenges, and NATO stated its readiness to defend 'every inch' of allied territory.
