At a meeting, the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Russia, Valery Gerasimov, presented the results of the testing of new weapon samples. One of the points concerned the cruise missile with a nuclear power system 'Burevestnik', which, according to military officials, traveled almost 14 thousand kilometers.
Pointing out that 'Burevestnik' is a unique specimen, Putin emphasized that this missile can bypass missile defense systems.

In September 2023, Putin announced the completion of tests of the missile 'Burevestnik'. Earlier tests of this sample had resulted in a tragedy at a military facility, which caused the death of five people.
Putin first mentioned 'Burevestnik' in 2018, highlighting its long flight range and maneuverability, making it vulnerable to air and missile defense systems.
