The Singapore Grand Prix Declared Dangerous Due to Heat: How It Will Affect the Drivers.
Lewis Hamilton's Tears After Losing His Beloved Dog
According to The Sun: Lewis Hamilton struggled to hold back tears as he spoke about the immense outpouring of support he received following the death of his dog Roscoe. He described this reaction as 'overwhelming'.
The Brit appeared at the Formula 1 racetrack for the first time after the news of his loss, as Roscoe died in his arms on Sunday evening due to pneumonia, which the dog had been battling for the second time this year.
GettyRoscoe, whom Hamilton adopted in 2013, was always by his owner’s side at Formula 1 events, having received a lifetime pass. He became a fan favorite alongside the seven-time world champion.
Following this tragic news, many people expressed their support for Hamilton and the dog's trainer, Kristine MacMillan. The driver especially thanked her for helping Roscoe live a long and happy life.
Hamilton on Support and Grief
At media events during the Singapore Grand Prix, Hamilton shared his 'difficult experience' regarding the loss and talked about the response from the Formula 1 community.
He noted:
“I received a lot of messages. It was really overwhelming to see how many people Roscoe touched around the world.”
“This was the most important thing in my life, so it was a very difficult experience.”
“I’m just waiting for the moment I can get back in the car and do what I love.”
Hamilton also spoke to Sky Sports, noting:
“I read somewhere that grief is the last act of love. And I truly feel that.”
Racing in Heat Conditions
The Ferrari team, with whom Hamilton races, hopes to improve their results as this weekend in Singapore has been declared the first 'race in heat' in Formula 1.
The FIA made this decision after weather forecasts predicted that the temperature could rise to 31°C. Singapore is considered one of the toughest races on the F1 calendar, as drivers typically lose 2-3 kilograms due to sweat.
To cope with the harsh conditions, drivers will have the option to use cooling vests. These vests will be fitted in every car as standard, but drivers who choose to opt-out must make up for the weight loss so they do not gain an advantage from a lighter car.
The death of Roscoe was a significant event not only for Lewis Hamilton but also for his fans worldwide. The dog was not just his pet but also a symbol of the support and emotional bond Hamilton had with his fans. This loss highlights the fragility of life and the importance of cherishing moments with those we love.
Moreover, competing in heat conditions presents new challenges for athletes, as the health of drivers must always come first. Formula 1 actively responds to conditions to ensure the safety and comfort of participants. Read also
