Tragedy in Odessa Prompts Urgent Call from Emergency Services: Leave Beaches Immediately During Air Raid Alerts.
State Emergency Service Issues Beach Safety Warning
According to Novyny.live: After a fatal incident in Odessa, rescuers from the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES) are urging beachgoers to evacuate the shoreline and seek shelter as soon as air raid sirens sound. The tragedy, which occurred due to disregard for basic safety protocols near the water, underscores the very real risks people face. In Ukraine, where coastal areas remain vulnerable during the ongoing conflict, ignoring such warnings can have deadly consequences.
SES spokesperson Pavlo Petrov stressed the dangers people encounter while relaxing on beaches. He stated:
'When the air raid signal goes off, you must use a shelter—do not stay on the beach hoping the threat will pass you by.' Pavlo Petrov, SES spokesperson
This directive applies to both official swimming areas and unofficial, wild beaches where hazardous situations can easily arise.
It is important to note that the majority of water-related accidents occur in locations where swimming is prohibited. The State Emergency Service also cautions citizens against relying on luck, emphasizing that following safety rules is essential for preventing further tragedies.
International OCEANMAN Swimming Competition
For context, the international OCEANMAN swimming series launched its Kyiv stage on June 27. As many people seek to enjoy time by the water, it is crucial to prioritize safety and adhere to the recommendations of rescue services.
This situation highlights the critical need to pay attention to safety signals in the face of modern threats. The SES guidelines are designed to protect citizens from potential dangers, especially during water-related leisure. With increased beach activity in the summer months, following these safety measures has never been more urgent.
