Record Prices for Apples in Ukraine: Why They Have Reached European Levels

According to inkorr.com: Consumers in Ukraine have faced unprecedented apple prices in the 2024/2025 season, comparable to prices in EU countries. As reported by 'Agro Times', this situation has even surprised European specialists. The apple shortage from last year and the delay of the new harvest have led to a significant price increase, already exceeding 100 hryvnias per kilogram.

Head of 'USPA Fruit' company Volodymyr Hurzhii noted: 'Prices in Ukraine were comparable to some EU countries, which was very strange, as usually Ukrainian apples are cheaper.'

The product shortage has significantly complicated the work of supermarkets, which have faced difficulties in obtaining the necessary quantity of apples. The situation is fundamentally different from previous seasons and has become a real challenge for both consumers and retail chains.

According to information from 'Agro Times', the lack of apples from last year and the delay of the new harvest have led to record price increases in Ukraine in the 2024/2025 season. The product shortage has created major difficulties for consumers and retail chains, forcing them to compare prices even with countries of the European Union.

Currently, the situation with apple prices is indicative of broader problems in the agricultural sector. Farmers and retail chains are trying to adapt to the new conditions, complicating the accessibility of this popular fruit for consumers. Within Ukraine, consumers have to pay more attention to alternatives or search for the best deals on the market.
