Record fall: autogas imports have fallen to a minimum since 2022.
Minimum supply of liquefied gas from abroad in January 2025
In January 2025, the supply of liquefied gas from abroad amounted to 46.3 thousand tons, which is the lowest figure since May 2022. Compared to December 2024, shipments decreased by 35%, and compared to the same period last year - by 9%, according to data from the consulting group 'A-95'.
Low January import figures are partly due to resource accumulation in December before the increase in excise rates on the product starting from 2025.
'BRSM-Nafta' continues to lead in fuel supply, having imported 8.1 thousand tons of gas last month, which is 22% lower than in December. The company focused its supplies on Romania, specifically from the Interport Gaz terminal, from where it discharged 7.7 thousand tons of resources. The rest was brought in by tankers from Bialchem Group (Poland).
Among the largest importers, 'Gaztron Ukraine' and the 'Bars' group reduced their supplies the most: by 90% and 72% to 0.3 thousand tons and 0.48 thousand tons, respectively. 'Ville Forte' completely abandoned imports, which in December brought 6.34 thousand tons of gas by the Danube.
OKKO reduced gas supplies by 51% in January, to 4.1 thousand tons. In December, the network imported record volumes of fuel, preparing for new excise rates. More than half of the gas (2.6 thousand tons, -55%) was received by rail from AmeriGas Polska. The rest came from truckloads from Orlen Lietuva, Venor Polska, and OMV Petrom.
'Dankor Trade' also halved its discharges in January to 1.62 thousand tons. The company split the tanker Orinda with 'Avantage'. The latter reduced its resource supply by 19% in total for the month to 4.3 thousand tons.
Among the companies that increased imports in January are 'Vigaztrade', 'Nadezhda', Centurion Group, and 'Ukrspetstransgaz'. 'Vigaztrade' increased supplies by 45% to 6.1 thousand tons, thanks to an increase in shipments from Unicom Oil Terminal (5.4 thousand tons despite 4 thousand tons) and a railway batch of butane from Hungary (0.5 thousand tons).
Centurion Group doubled its imports to 2.5 thousand tons. Part of the gas (2 thousand tons) was brought from Turkey (Aygaz), and the rest from Romania (Vixon Gas).
'Ukrspetstransgaz' brought in 0.86 thousand tons from Romania (in 2024, the company imported gas exclusively from Poland). Sources were split equally between the terminal in Galati and the OMV Petrom refinery in Ploiesti.
'Nadezhda' also increased its railway volumes from Ploiesti, discharging 2 thousand tons of resources. Overall, the company's growth amounted to 37% (2.4 thousand tons).
WOG and Motto returned to imports. The first, after a two-month pause, brought in 1.14 thousand tons of gas by rail, splitting it almost equally between Galati and Ploiesti. 'Motto' returned to supplies by the Danube, which they first tested in November: 'Novis Trade', part of the 'Motto' group, brought 2.4 thousand tons of gas from Romania and Turkey in a ratio of 60% to 40%.
Due to the high gas prices in the west, more and more importers are redirecting their supplies to the south, whose share in total product imports in January amounted to a record 70%.
At the same Time, purchases in Poland decreased to the lowest level since April 2022 - 6.4 thousand tons. Automobile supplies decreased by 53% to 3.7 thousand tons, railway ones by 45% to 2.7 thousand tons. 96% of wagon volumes fell on OKKO.
73% (2.7 thousand tons together) of supplies from Poland were provided by Pakar Jacek and Bialchem Group, which offered quite low prices for the resource in the second half of the month. For example, the price of gas from Pakar Jacek terminals at the Ukrainian-Polish border was $725-735/ton, while from Venor Polska and Unimot it was $829-837/ton. Such a price in Bialystok indicates the presence of illicit products in the resource, for example, butane, which is not subject to embargo.
Resource imports from the Baltic countries also decreased: from Lithuania - by 2.3 times, to 5.9 thousand tons, from Latvia - by 3.8 times, to 0.6 thousand tons.
Deliveries from Orlen Lietuva decreased by 29% to 3.7 thousand tons.
Supplies from Latvijas Propana Gaze fell to a minimum since April 2022 at 0.18 thousand tons despite 1.3 thousand tons in December. 72%, or 0.43 thousand tons of gas from Latvia, accounted for Intergaz.
