Reuters: US to announce military aid to Ukraine worth $8 billion.
The US plans to provide Ukraine with military aid worth over $8 billion. This information was reported by US officials. President Volodymyr Zelensky will visit Washington on Thursday, and during his visit, this aid will be announced.
As reported by Reuters, the White House intends to inform Congress about plans to allocate $5.6 billion from American weapons stockpiles. The detailed terms of this aid package are still being discussed.
The second announcement, scheduled for Thursday, will concern $2.4 billion in assistance under the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative. This assistance will include ammunition, anti-drone weapons, and materials to support ammunition production in Ukraine.
In addition, the US announced the allocation of $375 million under Presidential Drawdown Authority for Ukraine. This package includes the first delivery of the Joint Standoff Weapon precision-guided glide bomb with a range of up to 130 km.
The package also includes patrol boats, additional ammunition for HIMARS, 155mm and 105mm artillery shells, spare parts, and other weapons.
The Joint Standoff Weapon will be dropped from fighter jets and is capable of hitting targets with high precision.
