Russia may again conduct test launches of ballistic missiles: details from ISW.
The report from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) indicates that Russia is touting the missile it launched at Ukraine on November 21. Occupiers may soon conduct new test launches of similar missiles. This is reported by ISW.
The report also suggests that Russian President Vladimir Putin and military authorities are trying to overestimate the significance of the missile launch, possibly to increase Russian influence over Ukraine and the West.
Experts also note that the statement from the USA and Ukraine regarding the missile strike on November 21 confirms that the ballistic missile 'Oreshnik' is not a completely new type of weapon for Russia.
According to ISW, Russia may repeat the launches of similar missiles in the coming days in order to achieve a similar informational effect. Russian sources reported that on November 23-24, the country will partially close its airspace for missile testing, but did not specify what type it would be.
Recall that on November 21, Russia struck with the medium-range ballistic missile 'Oreshnik' at Dnipro. The 'Southern Machine-Building Plant' was hit. The launch occurred from the 'Kapustin Yar' training ground in the Astrakhan region. President Putin announced 'successful tests' of the new weapon.
Defense Express analysts noted that Russia had not previously announced the creation of the 'Oreshnik' missile, and this may be a new name for an already existing system, as double naming is a common practice in the Russian army.
It should also be noted that according to the command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Russia has a limited number of intercontinental ballistic missiles 'Oreshnik', and the use of this medium-range missile to strike Dnipro was 'a step aimed at intimidation.'
