In a statement on his Instagram today, the family and team confirmed that the sports legend had already packed his bags for a trip to Dubai to promote his boxing comeback in December.
This came after his son Campbell, 24, expressed his feelings: 'Words cannot describe my pain.'
The family's message noted that he was looking forward to the moment when his daughters Millie and Fern would see his fight live for the first time.
'We are all shocked by the events of the last few days. As far as we know, despite his well-known troubles, Richard was in good spirits.'
The message also stated that Hatton had been in touch with family and team 'in the days and weeks leading up to the weekend' and dined with his daughters last Friday.
The statement also confirmed that he was found by his manager and longtime friend Paul Speak.
'Expressions of grief and love from the nation and the world show how much Richard was loved.'
This came after Hatton recently announced his return to boxing with a fight against Aysa Al-Dah in Dubai scheduled for December.
The police reported that they received a call to the scene on Sunday at 6:45 am, where 'the body of a 46-year-old man was found.' According to Greater Manchester Police, the circumstances of Hatton's death are not suspicious.
