According to The Sun: Ricky Hatton's manager discovered the boxer's body while checking on him at home, as he had not appeared at a boxing event. The 46-year-old athlete was found dead at his home in Hyde, Greater Manchester, on Sunday morning.
@SpeakPaul PAPaul Speak, Ricky's manager, began to worry when the boxer did not show up for the event on Saturday night. He went to Ricky's house and, according to boxing expert Steve Buns, entered the house himself.
“On Saturday night, Ricky did not go to the boxing show. Speak found out what happened on Sunday morning... It was Paul Speak who found his great friend Ricky Hatton,” said Buns.
Law enforcement received a call at 6:45 AM, where “they found the body of a 46-year-old man.” Greater Manchester Police do not believe the circumstances of the death are suspicious.
Tributes have been pouring in from around the world for Ricky, who was a fan favorite and a true boxing hero. His friend and former champion Amir Khan expressed his condolences, highlighting Ricky's role as a mentor.
“Today we lost not just one of Britain's greatest boxers but also a friend, mentor, warrior – Ricky Hatton,” remarked Khan.
Just five days before the tragic news, Ricky sent a heartfelt message to a bullying victim, encouraging him not to give up and to continue boxing.
“I believe you have been going through tough times at school because of some bullies. I too had a bully in school. You did the right thing by taking up boxing,” he addressed the boy Louis.
Ricky Hatton was an outstanding boxer who won titles in both lightweight and welterweight divisions. Throughout his career, he fought many great boxers, including Kostya Tszyu and Jose Luis Castillo, and is remembered by fans as one of the best British fighters of his generation.

Ricky also actively supported boxers on mental health issues, openly sharing his struggles after retiring in 2012. In the days leading up to his death, many people, including musician Liam Gallagher, expressed their grief and honored his memory.
“Absolutely devastated to hear the news about RICKY HATTON,” wrote Gallagher.
The Mayor of Greater Manchester, Andy Burnham, promised that the city would find a way to properly honor Ricky's memory.
“Ricky was very loved by many in Greater Manchester. He always came to help,” he added.
