Police received a call from a passerby at 6:45 AM after discovering 'the body of a 46-year-old man.'

Greater Manchester Police stated that they do not consider Ricky's death suspicious.

His close friend and manager, Paul Speak, found the body.

It is reported that Hatton 'struggled with trauma and grief' following the suicide of his friend David Lee, who acted without warning.

According to reports, Hatton attended Lee's funeral just days before his own tragedy.

“I wish you could reach out to us, mate. See you soon,”
- Hatton wrote in an emotional social media post.

Moreover, Hatton appeared to be 'himself' during a training session with another boxer last Thursday, noting that he had a 'problem with his elbow', before 'joking about his age.'

Hatton's death occurred just a few months after he announced his return to boxing, planning a fight against Eisa Al Daha in Dubai in December.

Ricky Hatton's Notable Wins

Ricky Hatton lost only three fights in his illustrious career of 46 bouts, earning around £37 million. Here are some of his most memorable victories:

  • Tommy Picoe, TKO – In his 11th fight as a professional, Ricky won his first title - the vacant Central area championship in lightweight.
  • John Tockton, on points – Hatton claimed national titles by defeating Tockton for the vacant British title at lightweight.
  • Kostya Tszyu, technical knockout – At the MEN Arena in Manchester, Ricky became a world champion for the first time, winning the IBF and The Ring titles.
  • Luis Collazo, unanimous decision – Three fights later, Ricky added the WBA title at lightweight to his collection, defeating Collazo over 12 rounds.
  • Paul Malignaggi, TKO – Ricky's last victory came against American boxer Malignaggi in Las Vegas.

He captured world titles in both lightweight and welterweight, fighting unique boxers in history.

Throughout his career, he managed to win significant fights against stars such as Kostya Tszyu and José Luis Castillo, and he suffered losses to Floyd Mayweather in 2007 and Manny Pacquiao in 2009.

Tributes poured in for Hatton from around the world as he was one of the most beloved boxers and a true working-class hero.

Former champion Amir Khan from Bolton stated that Hatton was a great inspiration to him:

“Today we lost not just one of Britain's best boxers, but a friend, a mentor, a warrior, Ricky Hatton.”

The tragedy occurred just days after Hatton sent a heartfelt message to a bullying victim, encouraging him to 'keep his chin up.'

He urged the boy, named Louis, to continue going to boxing training to gain confidence.

Ricky said:

“I believe you have been through a tough time at school because of a few bullies. Even I had a bully during my schooling.”
