Rapeseed Prices Surge in Ukraine, Reflecting Strong Export and Domestic Demand.
Ukrainian Rapeseed Gains Market Momentum
According to Novyny.live: Rising interest in rapeseed within Ukraine is driving significant price increases. Export prices have climbed by $5 per ton, a notable market shift. In early February, the cost of delivering a ton of rapeseed to Black Sea ports has reached up to 25,000 hryvnias, equivalent to $500-550. Meanwhile, domestic processing plants are offering prices ranging from 24,000 to 24,500 hryvnias per ton, including delivery. This surge highlights the crop's growing economic importance for Ukrainian farmers.
Export Figures Show Robust Growth
Ukrainian rapeseed exports are demonstrating strong positive trends. In January 2026, the country exported a total of 230,000 tons of rapeseed products, consisting of:
- 130,000 tons of seeds,
- 50,000 tons of oil, which is equivalent to 100,000 tons of grain.
As of late January, Ukraine held domestic reserves of approximately 600,000 tons of rapeseed. On the European market, rapeseed oil is currently priced at no more than 1,060 euros per ton. These market movements indicate escalating demand for rapeseed both domestically and internationally. The data underscores Ukraine's key role as a major global supplier of oilseeds.
The price surge for Ukrainian rapeseed reflects not only internal economic factors but also shifts in global agricultural markets. Increased European demand for rapeseed oil may be linked to the transition toward more sustainable biofuel sources, which enhances the crop's appeal among agricultural producers. This trend could further stimulate the expansion of rapeseed production in Ukraine, representing a vital aspect for the development of the nation's agricultural sector.
