A significant court ruling occurred in the USA: Tesla was found responsible for a fatal traffic accident caused by its autopilot. According to the verdict, the automaker will have to pay 329 million dollars to the family of the deceased and one of the victims in the accident that happened in Florida back in 2019. Following this decision, Tesla's shares fell, and Elon Musk's future plans may be in question.
How the accident will affect Tesla
The plaintiffs criticized Tesla for using the autopilot outside of highways, where the system may be less reliable. This ruling could spark a new wave of lawsuits against the company. Despite Elon Musk claiming that the autopilot drives better than humans, the court found the manufacturer guilty due to a software error.
