Ronnie O'Sullivan launches his own TV channel: what viewers will see.
Ronnie O'Sullivan launches a new channel with an unexpected partner
According to The Sun: Ronnie O'Sullivan, a famous snooker player, is starting a new project that has nothing to do with the snooker table, in partnership with a former producer of the theatrical show 'Thomas and Friends.'
The 49-year-old snooker player is launching a new snooker channel on television called 'Pluto Snooker 900.' This will be the world's first specialized channel dedicated to snooker, and it launches this Monday.
The channel will be free and available through Pluto TV—a streaming service with ads.
The project was initiated by Jason Francis, a snooker producer who previously worked on children's theaters worldwide.
Channel programming and new opportunities
The programming will include a masterclass from O'Sullivan titled 'Rocket Method,' as well as a new fast-paced game format called Snooker 900.
This format involves a dynamic 15-minute game, designed to be a 'high-speed' alternative for today's streaming environment.
O'Sullivan is confident that the new channel will help discover talents at the national level and create new opportunities for players from various backgrounds.
“Snooker has been everything to me, but sometimes I look back and think, where will the next bright young star come from?”
“Young talents don't always have the opportunity to play under lights or in front of cameras, which is why Snooker 900 is extremely important.”
“This channel gives them a proper stage, whether they are women, youth players, or athletes with disabilities, and puts real money back into amateur snooker.”
“For me, it's an opportunity to inspire the next generation, to show fans a faster and more exciting way to enjoy this sport.”
Return to his professional career
O'Sullivan has no intention of leaving professional sports, although he missed three tournaments, including the English and British Opens this month due to health issues.
He last played professionally in August when he lost to Neil Robertson in the Masters final in Saudi Arabia.
The new channel 'Pluto Snooker 900' emphasizes Ronnie O'Sullivan's interest in developing snooker and finding new talents in the sport. With its unique format and simplified accessibility, it will give young players the opportunity to showcase themselves and introduce a wider audience to the world of snooker. We hope that the implemented ideas will bring a new breath to this exciting sport.
