Ronnie O’Sullivan enjoys his new life in Dubai

In June, “The Rocket” married his long-time partner Laela Roas, an actress and former contestant on the show Strictly Come Dancing, in a modest ceremony in East London.

Many were not even aware of it until Ronnie posted a photo from his wedding day on his Instagram account with the caption:

“We finally made it official!! Mr. and Mrs. O’Sullivan.”

After this event, the couple packed their things and moved to the UAE, which gave them better access to competitions in China and his snooker academy in Saudi Arabia.

A new life in Dubai

Reflecting on moving to a warm country, O’Sullivan, 49, noted:

“It’s really cool. I have a great training base there, which was one of the main reasons for moving.”

“I struggled to find a place to play. I either had to take a train to Sheffield or try to move to Sheffield.”

“But my wife didn’t want to live in Sheffield. So she asked if we could move to Spain or Dubai.”

“I thought Dubai is obviously closer to China, it’s in the Middle East.”

“All the tournaments I participate in and all the work I do happen there. So it made sense to move to Dubai.”

O’Sullivan added that he enjoys doing sports in Dubai and that friends who already live there have helped him integrate faster.

“I’ve met very nice people and integrated wonderfully. So yes, it’s nice.”

“I don’t like lying in the sun, but honestly I prefer warmth over cold, if that makes sense. Spring and autumn are my favorite seasons.”

A new chapter in his private life

Like many newcomers, O’Sullivan found it hard to get used to the word “wife” instead of “girlfriend” or “fiancée” in conversations.

As a father of three children from previous relationships, he noted:

“Now everyone knows where they stand.”

“It probably feels a bit more mature. Of course, it takes a while.”

“At first it was strange to say that word (wife), but now it feels quite normal. It’s nice. Everything is good. Everyone is happy, which is the most important thing.”

O’Sullivan missed three consecutive tournaments for medical reasons, but his next appearance on the sports scene will be at the Grand Prix in Xi'an, which starts on October 7.

He also announced the launch of Pluto Snooker 900, the world’s first 24-hour channel dedicated to snooker, which will be available for free and on-demand on Pluto TV.

The Snooker 900 format includes 900 seconds (15 minutes) of playing time, a 20-second timer, the ability to take a ball on a foul, and a 'deadly' game for the blue ball to decide on ties.

The channel will initially broadcast 18 hours a week live from Monday to Wednesday, starting on Monday (October 6) with 'Legends Week', featuring famous players like Jimmy White, Ken Doherty, John Parrott, and others.

Over the next 12 months, over £600,000 in prize money will be awarded to amateurs.

The channel will also feature issues of O’Sullivan’s instructional series 'Method of the Rocket'.

“I remember we filmed the workshop, and after three days of being on my feet for 12-13 hours, I couldn't even walk.”

“That was probably the hardest work we ever did because we had to get everything done quickly.”

“You’ll see all the tips - from beginners to really advanced players.”

“I put everything on the table. It will be great for any snooker or billiard lover who wants to raise their level. I really delved into the details.”

“I hope this new channel will inspire the ambitions of young players. It will be a kind of talent show.”

“The 900 format, which sharpens the mind, gives people the chance to feel what it’s like to play on TV. To feel the pressure you experience.”

Ronnie O’Sullivan is not only advancing his sporting success but also his private life and becoming a role model for young talent in the world of snooker. His new ventures in Dubai and on television show how to combine career with personal happiness. Whether he can continue his sporting successes remains an exciting topic of discussion among snooker fans.
