Ronnie O'Sullivan Returns to Play Thanks to New Cue

According to The Sun: Ronnie O'Sullivan has rejuvenated his snooker game thanks to the craftsmanship of a cue maker from Bangkok.

Earlier this year, the 49-year-old 'Rocket' went through tough times after angrily breaking his favorite cue and deciding to throw it away.

Eurosport Ronnie O'Sullivan Scored Two 147s with the New Cue

The seven-time world champion revealed that during the tournament in Leicester, he experienced 'depression in snooker' and 'fear on stage'.

At the World Championship in Crucible, he played with borrowed equipment. Although Ronnie made it to the semifinals, where he lost 17-7 to future champion Zhao Xintong, he had to change the cue tip twice during the match.

Changes in Ronnie's Game

This season, he is drastically changing the situation, having won five out of seven matches. In particular, he scored two 147 points in the semifinal of the Saudi Arabia Tournament against Chris Wakelin, earning a bonus of £147,000.

Ronnie's success is linked to a new cue made for him by professional player Sunny Akani, who also crafts stunning cues for his peers.

The 30-year-old Akani, known as 'Sunny Boy', believes that a cue is not just a tool but an extension of the player's arm.

O'Sullivan will feel more confident when he plays against Ukrainian Yulian Boyko at the Xian Grand Prix on Wednesday.

“This is my friend in Dubai, Muhammad, whom I have known since 1993. We reconnected about three years ago when I was relaxing in Dubai.'

“He told me: 'You must try Sunny Akani's cue'. I thought: 'Sunny Akani - he is a snooker player, probably cannot make good cues.'”

After trying one of Akani's cues, Ronnie realized that it was indeed a quality product and ordered a cue made to his specifications.

“I picked up one of the cues and was amazed – this is the one with which I made two 147s.'

O'Sullivan also shared that he felt great while playing against Chris, noting that it was indeed an impressive experience.

Ronnie also spoke at the opening of Pluto Snooker 900 – the world's first channel dedicated to snooker, which will broadcast for free 24/7 on Pluto TV.
