O'Sullivan was set to compete against Sanderson Lam in a qualifying match on September 22 at 7:00 PM, but his withdrawal was announced at the last minute. Unfortunately, details of his medical issues are not being disclosed.

Instead of Ronnie, Daniel Womersley, the highest available player based on the Q School Ranking 2025, will participate in the tournament. The tournament is scheduled to take place from September 22 to 28 at the Cheltenham Racecourse, with the winner receiving a prize of £100,000.

News of O'Sullivan's withdrawal came just hours after he had shared his training regime with his snooker fans.

'I would rather have not played snooker, but simply have had a normal family' - About Ronnie O'Sullivan's difficult childhood

Ronnie O'Sullivan has achieved great success as one of the brightest stars in snooker.

However, his rocky path is marked by mental health issues, addictions, and weight fluctuations.

O'Sullivan's parents ran a network of prostitution businesses in Essex, and his father was sentenced to 20 years in prison for murder when Ronnie was just 16 years old.

In the documentary 'The Edge of Everything', the snooker star admitted that his father's prison sentence had a profound impact on his life.

“I didn't want to pin everything on my father's situation, but I thought: 'I would rather have not played snooker, but had a normal family'. Because that was a dream, but on the other hand — the reality is terrible.”

A year later, Ronnie became the youngest UK champion, just seven days before his 18th birthday. And at 19, in 1994, he won the title of the youngest champion.

However, back then, he also began to abuse alcohol and drugs. When his mother was imprisoned for tax evasion in 1996, he struggled to take care of his eight-year-old sister.

O'Sullivan, who lost almost two stone during the lockdown, has rediscovered his passion for running and shared videos of his workouts on his Instagram page.

'The Rocket' released a clip where he performs a series of exercises to improve stability and strength, including impressive deadlifts with dumbbells and squats.

The British sports icon emphasized in her accompanying caption the importance of physical activity for her mental and physical well-being.

He explained: “Physical exercises are very important for me. Not just for the body, but also for my mental state.”

Ronnie O'Sullivan's withdrawal from the British Open underscores the importance of his health, as even the greatest sports stars can face medical issues. In the meantime, Daniel Womersley gets the chance to showcase his skills at this prestigious tournament, which promises to be exciting and interesting for the spectators.
