McIlroy after the victory in the Ryder Cup: How he responded to DeChambeau.
Conflict between Rory McIlroy and Bryson DeChambeau
According to The Sun: Rory McIlroy has revived his dispute with American player Bryson DeChambeau following Europe's victory in the Ryder Cup. During the celebrations on Sunday, the 36-year-old Irishman spread the European flag over the structure of the Ryder Cup that bears the names of the players.

At the request of his friend Matt Fitzpatrick, McIlroy hung the flag at the edge of the barrier, covering DeChambeau's name. He seemed aware of what he was doing, carefully pulling the flag so that only part of the letter 'U' was visible.
Fans appreciated this prank. One user wrote on X:
“The highlight of trolling! I like that from Rory! He's held it all week, it's time to respond.”Another fan added:
“Oh, this is true European hooliganism. Pure joy. USA, remember this.”
A third fan pointed out that after the aggressive behavior that McIlroy and his wife Erica were subjected to upon arriving at the tournament:
“This is real trolling. I like the reaction of the US fans – they laughed at him and his wife for a week, threw beer at his wife, and now they're crying about the loss.”
Erica Stoll was the victim of several aggressive incidents by local fans, including a drink thrown at her, which led her husband to express his dissatisfaction with the crowd's behavior at the press conference. Now it seems that McIlroy has paid back in his own unique way by highlighting his sense of humor in the context of the European team's victory.
Ongoing Feud
This event was another step in the long-standing dispute between the world number 2 and DeChambeau. Their rivalry escalated at the US Open in June 2024, where DeChambeau overtook McIlroy in the final stages as the Irishman lost three shots on the last four holes.

This time it seems that McIlroy had the last word both on and off the course. DeChambeau, who successfully defeated Patrick Fitzpatrick, showed a strong performance in the US team, which approached the final day with a 12-5 lead.
Some stars, like Tommy Fleetwood, Justin Rose, and McIlroy himself lost their matches, but Irishman Shane Lowry did not give up and shared the points with Russell Henley, securing the cup for Europe. The draw between Tyrrell Hatton and Collin Morikawa was enough for Europe to win the tournament, leading to great celebration among the players.
