Rory McIlroy's Actions at the Ryder Cup

According to The Sun: Rory McIlroy showcased his 'villain' character at the Ryder Cup, competing against loud American fans on the Betpage fields in New York.

The Northern Irish player turned around and pointed to the live scoreboard, which indicated Europe’s clear advantage, in response to the boos and jeers from the stands.

McIlroy, 36, raised his eyebrows with a smile and pointed to the current scores, clearly signaling to the crowd that the scoreboard 'doesn’t lie', as Europe led with a firm score of 11.5-4.5 at the end of the second day.

Tension in the Atmosphere

This moment culminated a dramatic day when McIlroy found himself in the spotlight. Earlier, he reacted to fan taunts as he prepared to take a shot on the sixth hole, telling the referee that he couldn’t take his shot 'until they quiet down.'

Later, he faced personal insults regarding his wife Erica and former fiancée Caroline Wozniacki. The atmosphere became increasingly tense with each new hole. Even one fan on the 17th hole attempted to throw a drink at Erica.

McIlroy, concerned for his wife, wiped something from her hat, asking if everything was okay while the European team's security intervened.

Despite everything, McIlroy withstood the pressure, raising his fist and shouting 'Come on, let’s go!' after significant shots that led to a key victory alongside Shane Lowry.

He also demanded silence from the crowd before taking an important shot on the final holes, refusing to play until the spectators calmed down.

Lowry himself also expressed dissatisfaction with the fans as the tension escalated — the Irishman visibly lost patience with the rowdy crowd of New York.

A Memorable Day

Other players, such as Bryson DeChambeau, also got into conflicts, adding even more drama among fans after unsuccessful shots.

This day will be remembered, and McIlroy seemed to truly enjoy the moment, becoming an unexpected leader for Europe on enemy territory.
