Russia attacked energy infrastructure in 6 regions: what is known about the consequences.
According to FREEДOM:
Russian strikes on Ukraine
On August 27, Russia again focused its attacks on Ukrainian energy. The country's government reported that energy and gas infrastructure facilities were fired upon in six regions.
Damage inflicted
Drone attacks were recorded in Sumy, Poltava, Donetsk, Chernihiv, Kharkiv, and Zaporizhzhia regions. In Sumy, a key substation was seriously damaged, causing the city, including industrial facilities, to be left without electricity. The Poltava region also suffered significant damage to its gas infrastructure. Currently, emergency services are working to mitigate the consequences, and teams of energy and gas workers are restoring supply. Specialists continue to assess the damage incurred.
“We regard the Russian attacks as a continuation of the deliberate policy of the Russian Federation to destroy Ukraine's civilian infrastructure ahead of the heating season. This is yet another act of energy terror aimed at the civilian population,” the Ministry of Energy stated.
Evening attack
It was previously reported that on the night of August 27, Russia launched an attack on Ukraine using 95 strike drones of the Shahed type and imitation drones of various types.
In the face of constant threat from Russia, it is critically important to ensure reliable protection of Ukrainian infrastructure. The government and local authorities continue to work on strengthening energy security and readiness for new attacks. The results of the latest aggression once again highlight the need for international support in the fight against Russian aggression.
