Podoliak named two main fears of Putin: Trump and China.
The results of the meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and U.S. leader Donald Trump and the heads of European countries in Washington do not meet the expectations of the Russian dictator. This was stated by adviser to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine (OPU) Mykhailo Podoliak on the program of the FREEДОМ channel.
“Russia will stall for time, will continue missile-drone attacks on the civilian population. The Russian Federation will continue to accumulate resources on the front line and try to pressure the Ukrainian defense. Undoubtedly, this will not be particularly effective for Russia, but they will do it,” Podoliak believes.
He does not rule out that after some time, Trump will return to the understanding that without pressure on Putin, nothing will be achieved.
According to Podoliak, a meeting in the format of the USA - Ukraine - Russia is quite possible, especially since logistics are already being handled by the United States.
“The White House press secretary Levitt has already stated that Putin promised Trump to take part directly in such a meeting. And since logistics are being handled by global intermediaries, Russia is very afraid of various steps by the USA,” emphasized the adviser to the head of the OPU.
For Russia, he is confident, there are currently two major fears.
“This is Trump’s emotionally negative reaction to Putin’s actions, which will instantly lead to a completely different level of costs for the war. That is, Russia will have to pay a much higher price for this war. And this concerns not only sanctions but also the military component. And the second fear is China, which views Russia as territory to be used for its global interests, nothing more. These are the two major fears for Russia. Therefore, if Putin is indeed considering the volume that White House officials claim, then, of course, he will probably participate,” emphasized the speaker.
If we analyze the future negotiations from the perspective of outcomes, then Putin will have one task, Podoliak is confident.
“First of all, to undoubtedly tell his alternative versions of why he is mass killing people in other countries, not only in Ukraine, while dragging out time. It is important for them that the war continues - to the same extent, with the same intensity. And at the same time, the Russians will be ready to negotiate. In my opinion, these negotiations will not be productive right away,” emphasized the adviser to the head of the OPU.
To achieve results, he emphasized, it is necessary to influence Putin. Only China and the United States can do this.
“If these countries consider it necessary to end the war really on relatively just terms, this will stabilize the international space as a whole. Not only international law but also bilateral and multilateral relations. And finally create an understanding of a world where there are balancing parties, a global South under the aegis of China, democratic countries, Western countries under the aegis of the USA, and so on. That is, the Russian Federation has no place in this configuration. That is why they are trying to take this place for themselves at the expense of the blood of Ukraine,” concluded the guest of the show.
In the television program, Mykhailo Podoliak, the adviser to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, shared his opinion on possible influences on Russian President Vladimir Putin regarding the end of the war. According to his conclusions, only China and the United States, which have key influence on the global situation, can force Putin to stop the war. Russia, according to the adviser, fears Trump’s reaction and also the possible influence from China. Such conclusions he draws by analyzing the possible prospects of future negotiations and approaches to resolving the conflict in eastern Ukraine.
