The situation in Odesa region

According to ТСН: President Volodymyr Zelensky reported that he has comprehensive information about the situation in the Odesa region related to Russian strikes and their consequences. An analysis of the actions of those responsible for air defense in the region is currently underway.

He elaborated on this during a briefing in Kyiv with Portuguese Prime Minister Luis Montenegro.

“I understand in detail what is happening there... Right after the massive strikes. They are constantly occurring there,” emphasized the president.

Zelensky noted that following the recent events, the authorities held several meetings and tasked the military command with urgently providing the population with food, fuel, and medicine. Temporary infrastructure solutions, including pontoon bridges, are actively being implemented.

“Everyone is doing their job. We are also clarifying with the individuals responsible for air defense in Odesa region. Please leave this dialogue between me and the Commander-in-Chief (Syrsky – Ed.),” the head of state added.

Attacks in Odesa region

It is also important to note that the Russian Federation is trying to isolate southern Ukraine and the city of Odesa. The occupiers are deliberately destroying the logistical infrastructure of the region. The evening prior, ballistic strikes were launched on the port infrastructure, resulting in eight fatalities.

Moreover, on December 18, in the area of the village of Mayaki, the Russian army attacked a car with a drone, which was heading towards the bridge near the Dniester estuary. The car contained a mother and three children. The woman tragically died in the ambulance.

The situation in the Odesa region remains complex. The authorities are actively working to mitigate the consequences of the attacks, but the threat from the occupiers remains significant. It is important for the international community to pay attention to these events and provide support to Ukraine in its fight for territorial integrity.
