Moscow’s Plan to Draft Crimea Residents

According to UATV: Starting April 1, Russia intends to forcibly enlist residents from occupied Crimea into combat operations against Ukraine. This effort focuses on replenishing the 810th Naval Infantry Brigade and creating fresh units along the southern front. According to reports, mobilized Crimeans will be used in assault missions, signaling an escalation of military activity in the region.

New Division and Units

Specifically, Russia plans to expand the 810th Naval Infantry Brigade into a full division. As part of this initiative, new formations are being established on the southern front, including:

  • 55th Naval Infantry Division of the Russian Armed Forces
  • 120th Naval Infantry Division of the Russian Armed Forces

These fresh forces are expected to participate in assaults near the Oleksandrivka and Huliaipole axes.

According to Vladyslav Voloshyn, some of these troops are deployed to the Kursk direction, while others remain under the operational-tactical group 'Crimea.' These developments highlight a surge in combat operations and Russia’s expanding footprint on the southern front, which could reshape the battlefield in the near term.

The conscription of local Crimean residents suggests Russia’s growing need to replenish its frontline forces. It also indicates a potential shift in wartime strategy, with a stronger emphasis on offensive maneuvers. Such an escalation risks triggering new waves of violence and intensifying the conflict, demanding closer scrutiny from the international community.
