Russia prepares for disconnection from the global Internet.
In Russia, training is planned for the disconnection of several regions of the Russian Federation from the global Internet, reported the Russian Central Bank in a letter to banks and management companies.
The Central Bank recommends that credit organizations that need access to the global network inform Roskomnadzor about the technological processes in individual regions. The training is scheduled for December.
Roskomnadzor confirms the conducting of exercises to check the readiness of Russian infrastructure to ensure the availability of services in case of external influence.
Experts believe that disconnecting the international Internet in some regions of the Russian Federation is technically possible, as the authorities control internet providers and can restrict access to blocked sites and VPN services in Russia.
There is also the possibility of routing internet traffic through internal Russian nodes.
Previously, there were failures in mobile operators and providers in the central part of the Russian Federation, which caused many websites and applications in the .ru zone not to open.
In addition, Google, Meta, and TikTok closed the accounts of an industrial company from Tatarstan, which involved foreign workers in the production of drones for the Russian army.
It is worth noting that Ukrainian hackers carried out a large-scale attack on the All-Russian State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company (VGTRK) on the occasion of Putin's birthday.
