According to Novyny.live: Ukrainian law enforcement has dismantled an organized criminal network that was preparing to carry out contract killings of prominent Ukrainian citizens and foreigners for rewards of up to $100,000 USD. According to Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko, the group was operating under the direction of Russian Federation intelligence services, highlighting a severe threat to national security. This plot underscores the persistent hybrid warfare tactics employed by Russia against Ukraine, extending beyond the battlefield.

As part of the investigation, authorities conducted over 20 searches across Ukraine. These operations led to the arrest of seven individuals within Ukraine and three more in Moldova. All suspects have been formally notified of the charges against them, and prosecutors are preparing a request for the court to order their pre-trial detention.

Targets and Group Organization

Ruslan Kravchenko stated that the intended victims included well-known figures in Ukraine. Among the targets was Andrii Yusov, a strategic communications representative for Ukraine's Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) and deputy head of the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War.

'Members of the organized group clearly defined their roles, planned methods of murder, prepared the tools for the crime, and plotted escape routes. For each killing, the Russian side promised the perpetrators up to $100,000 USD,' Ruslan Kravchenko noted.

During the searches, investigators seized mobile phones, computer equipment, weapons, ammunition, and explosive substances. The organized group was also actively gathering intelligence on potential victims, indicating systematic preparation and planning.

These events highlight the complex security threats Ukraine faces and the necessity for decisive action by law enforcement to combat such criminal elements. The uncovered network not only demonstrates the scale of external interference in Ukraine's affairs but also points to the critical importance of enhanced cooperation between the law enforcement agencies of different nations to counter organized crime and protect national security.
