Russia detains prisoners after their sentence: Who will become 'goods' for the exchange?

According to inkorr.com: The Russian Federation is once again resorting to tricks! Instead of releasing prisoners after serving their sentences, it includes them on the lists for the exchange of prisoners of war. This is essentially human trafficking, and they should have already been released. A striking example is Konstantin Davidenko from Crimea, who was waiting for the exchange on Independence Day to return home to Ukraine.

“Russia is manipulating again. The RF includes people in the exchange lists that it should have released anyway. Among them are also those convicted of criminal offenses. And this is one of the key problems because even if the person has served their sentence, there is no guarantee that they will return,” - explained the chairwoman of the Crimea human rights group, Olga Skrypnyk.
“The most common reason why this is possible is an expired Ukrainian passport. While one is in a colony, it is impossible to arrange documents, and Russia uses this as a violation of migration law,” - the group leader added.

Russia continues to employ manipulative methods in dealing with prisoners, even including criminal offenders in the exchange lists. This underscores the urgency of raising this issue and ensuring the protection of prisoners' rights at the international level.

The situation surrounding the exchange of prisoners of war is becoming increasingly complicated, and such actions by the Russian authorities only complicate the process of returning Ukrainians. It is important for the international community to recognize human rights violations and strengthen protection mechanisms for prisoners to stop such manipulations in the future.
