Expert Assesses Russia's Drone Capacity: Up to 3,000 'Shahed' Units Monthly.
Production of 'Shahed' Drones
According to TSN.ua: Aviation expert Valeriy Romanenko has stated that Russian forces have the capacity to manufacture approximately 3,000 'Shahed' attack drones each month. While the theoretical maximum for daily launches could reach 1,000 units, this peak rate is only achievable about three times per month. The largest attack to date involved just over 800 drones, highlighting the practical constraints on mounting such massive, sustained assaults. These Iranian-designed drones have become a staple of Russia's long-range strike campaign.
Capabilities and Constraints
In practice, attacks utilizing 'Shahed' drones occur 5-6 times monthly. Romanenko emphasized that the prospect of launching 1,000 drones daily remains a distant ambition for Russia.
“Three thousand 'Shaheds' a month, meaning 100 per day. That's the limit,” the expert stressed.Consequently, the actual capabilities of Russia's military-industrial complex for producing and deploying these unmanned systems are finite, a factor that influences the dynamics on the battlefield. This assessment provides crucial insight into the logistical and industrial pressures facing Russian forces, despite their significant investment in drone warfare.
This information underscores the limitations the Russian military faces in deploying drones, despite its stated production figures. Given these constraints on launch capacity, Russia's ability to execute its strategic plans in the conflict may be affected. Simultaneously, such data is valuable for analyzing military operations and informing the decision-making of Ukrainian command.
