Limitations in the use of the 'Oreshnik' missile

According to TSN.ua: Russia will not be able to mass use the 'Oreshnik' missile, as it has limited capabilities for regular use of this weapon. Expert Dmytro Zhmilo noted three key reasons why Russia will not be able to actively use the 'Oreshnik' in combat actions.

  • First, according to reports from Ukrainian special services, the Russians can produce approximately 10 units of these missiles per year at best. This significantly limits their potential for mass use.

  • Second, during the testing of the missile in Kapustin Yar, serious problems arose, including detonation, which resulted in the death of personnel. These technical problems indicate that the 'Oreshnik' missile system has significant deficiencies that may affect its reliability in combat conditions. One of their fears, as Zhmilo noted, is that the 'Oreshnik' may not reach its target or may disintegrate in the air.

  • Third, the expert emphasized that the 'Oreshnik' without a nuclear charge is a powerful but ineffective weapon in the context of pressure on the rear of Ukraine and the destruction of energy infrastructure. Although Russia may still carry out strikes with the 'Oreshnik', it cannot be said that this will become a practice during enemy air strikes.

These factors indicate that the regular use of this missile remains in question, complicating Russia's plans for the activation of military actions.

Challenges in Russia's Military Strategy

Limitations in production and technical problems of the 'Oreshnik' missile indicate serious challenges that Russia faces in its military strategy. Despite claims about new technologies and weapons, the real ability for mass use of such systems remains in doubt. This may affect Russia's military plans and tactics, especially in the context of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
