Former CIA Officer Forecasts Ukraine’s Gains by Autumn: What Lies Ahead for Russia’s Military.
Ukraine’s Defensive Operations
According to Novyny.live: Ukraine is conducting successful defensive operations that are targeting Russian logistics hubs. Through these efforts, Kyiv is reclaiming control over parts of its territory. In an interview with journalist Maria Kagal, former CIA officer Glenn Corn noted that despite suffering heavy losses, Russian forces are struggling to capture new ground. He also emphasized that in recent months, Ukraine has managed to retake some areas.
Impact of Strikes on Russian Forces
Corn stated that Ukrainian strikes will continue to degrade Russian forces through the end of summer and into the fall. After a brief ceasefire that lasted only a few days following May 9, Russia launched a massive attack on Ukraine. This indicates that the Kremlin has no intention of halting the war, even if a truce is declared.
As Corn put it, 'they (the Russians) are not genuinely interested in either a long-term ceasefire or ending the war anytime soon.'
Even amid the difficult situation, the expert suggested that the Russian regime could collapse. Combined with Ukraine’s active defensive efforts, this points to a possible shift on the battlefield in favor of Ukrainian forces. Russian casualties remain high, complicating their attempts to seize new territory. As a result, the current situation reflects Ukraine gradually regaining control over key areas.
The front-line dynamics show Ukrainian forces actively countering Russian aggression, which may signal strategic changes in the conflict. A key point is that despite the absence of a lasting peace process, Ukraine continues to reclaim territory, while Russia’s military command faces serious challenges. This could influence the future trajectory of the war and international efforts to pursue a peaceful resolution.
