Oil facilities in three Russian regions ablaze after Ukrainian strike.
Strikes on Oil Infrastructure Inside Russia
According to UATV: On June 8, Ukrainian defense forces targeted oil facilities on Russian soil, sparking fires at multiple petroleum stations. Among the affected sites was the 'Grushovaya' oil transshipment base in Krasnodar Krai, where two oil storage tanks caught fire.
In addition, blazes erupted at the 'Krasnoarmeysk' oil pumping station in Saratov Oblast, where two tanks—each holding 50,000 cubic meters of oil—were engulfed in flames. Separately, another oil reservoir ignited at the 'Krasny Yar' oil pipeline pumping station in Volgograd Oblast.
Confirmation from Ukraine's President
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that Ukrainian 'Flamingo' missiles struck a military factory in Cheboksary. He also reported damage to the 'Kuybyshevsky' oil refinery in the Samara region. These developments highlight the ongoing tensions between Ukraine and Russia amid the broader military conflict.
“Attacks on oil facilities inside Russia demonstrate an escalation of the conflict and an intensification of military actions by Ukraine.” – Volodymyr Zelenskyy
The targeted assets, including oil reservoirs and military plants, hold strategic importance for Russia's resource supply chain. These events underscore the critical role of energy infrastructure control in warfare and could shape the trajectory of the situation in the region.
