Russian Forces Push to Isolate Kostiantynivka's Industrial Zone as Fighting Erupts.
Current Situation in Kostiantynivka
According to Espreso.tv: Clashes have broken out in Kostiantynivka as Russian troops attempt to infiltrate the city with the goal of cutting off its industrial district. Oleksandr Kovalenko has confirmed that Russian forces are already positioned on the city's outskirts. The western approaches are under the control of the 8th Combined Arms Army, while the eastern edges are held by the 3rd Army Corps. The infiltration aims to sever the Northern Overpass, a strategically vital infrastructure point.
Occupier Assaults
On June 9, occupying forces launched 16 attacks near several settlements, including:
- Ivanopillia
- Illinivka
- Rusyn Yar
- Kostiantynivka
- Pleshchiivka
- Mykolaipillia
- Toretske
Kovalenko highlighted that Kostiantynivka hosts a major industrial zone, and isolating it is a critical objective for Russian forces. He also pointed to a shift in enemy tactics:
“The Russians have now moved to what was previously called small tactical groups; today, these can be described as micro-tactical groups,” said Oleksandr Kovalenko.
According to him, these micro-tactical groups are deployed for assault operations with notable effectiveness. “Typically, these assault actions are carried out by such micro-tactical groups,” he added. Despite their smaller size, Kovalenko stressed that “there are still a large number of them, a significant amount of human resources” involved in the attacks.
The situation in Kostiantynivka remains tense, with events unfolding rapidly, demanding close monitoring by military analysts and local residents alike.
The Russian infiltration into Kostiantynivka underscores the strategic objectives occupiers are pursuing in the region. Control over industrial zones could significantly impact Ukraine's economic stability and military capabilities. The shift to micro-tactical groups allows Russian forces to conduct highly effective assaults, complicating Ukrainian defenses. The situation in the area remains critical, and further developments require vigilant attention from the international community.
