From September 1, Russia plans to double the fees for motorists for obtaining a driver's license and increase by one and a half times for the vehicle registration and technical passport. Other services related to car ownership are also becoming more expensive. For example, the so-called recycling fee when importing cars from abroad. Due to its increase, prices for goods and services in Russia have already risen, and car sales have decreased. The head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia, Alihanov, explained that all this is done to collect additional funds for the budget, reports FREEДOM.
The Russian government is preparing for a large-scale tax increase to close the financial gap, reports Reuters citing sources. The budget deficit of the aggressor country in 2025 has grown nearly to five trillion rubles, or approximately 61 billion dollars. This is four times higher than the figures forecasted in the initial federal treasury plan. According to the agency, in September, Moscow plans to amend the budget for the second time. They do not intend to reduce the main expenditure item for the continuation of the war against Ukraine and the military-industrial complex (MIC).
According to FREEДOM: In Russia, it is planned to increase taxes for motorists and mobilize additional funds to the budget by increasing existing fees. Amendments to the budget are also planned to close the financial gap, which has become quite significant due to the growing budget deficit of the country.
