Occupants turned the stadium in Mariupol into a propaganda platform: satellite photos.
In temporarily occupied Mariupol, Russian troops distorted the football field, turning it into a propaganda tool. This is reported by 'Glavcom' referencing Tribuna.
Distortion of the football field
According to inkorr.com: A huge red star, which is the official logo of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and the youth paramilitary movement 'Yunarmiya', was painted on the stadium's lawn. This star takes up almost the entire area of the field and is clearly visible even from satellite images and on Google Maps.
In addition to the star, the field also features three words: 'Duty, Honor, Courage'.
Neutral status for Russian athletes
The International Canoe Federation (ICF) granted neutral status to members of the Russian military club CSKA - they can now participate in the World Slalom Championships. In particular, Russian athlete Alsu Minazova has received neutral status.
Two members of the Russian military club CSKA, Pavel Kotov and Alexander Kharlamtsov, have also received neutral status. It is worth noting that Kharlamtsov holds the military rank of private in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
The actions of the Russian military in Mariupol have caused outrage in Ukrainian society, as the use of the football field for propaganda is a striking example of manipulating symbolism. At the same time, granting neutral status to Russian athletes underscores the complexities of international sports relations under current conditions. This situation demonstrates that sports and politics often intertwine in our realities.
