According to Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko, Russian forces are increasingly shelling Kharkiv region using guided bombs. Since the beginning of the year, there have been more than 3,700 shellings, while in 2023 there were just over 100. The main targets are energy and civil infrastructure.

Klymenko also noted that he discussed preparations for the winter season and the operation of services during possible blackouts with the leadership of Kharkiv Regional State Administration, city council, and Interior Ministry units. The local authorities and Interior Ministry units have already met to solve the heating problem in high-rise buildings and provide an alternative source of heat for residents with more than 20 mobile gas boilers.

It was also decided to intensify patrolling by police and national guard, as well as increase the number of response teams of the State Emergency Service. The minister also noted that additional reserves of personnel and equipment have been formed, which can be deployed from other regions if needed.

Recall that this morning an aerial bomb was dropped on the market in Kupiansk. Residents sustained bodily injuries of varying severity, and one woman is in serious condition. The market building, 12 trading kiosks, a kindergarten, residential buildings, and an administrative building were damaged.

Other attacks on Kharkiv

In the evening of October 22, the occupiers also attacked Kharkiv using aerial bombs. These attacks became possible thanks to modified FAB-500 bombs, which can reach any point in Kharkiv. This was reported by the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military-Civil Administration, Oleh Syniehubov.
