Russia is once again attacking cities in Ukraine: expert explains reasons for escalation.
Russia continues to attack peaceful cities in Ukraine, targeting energy facilities, enterprises, and residential buildings. Political technologist and head of the Political Intelligence Center Oleg Posternak emphasizes that for Russia, this is the most optimal way to demonstrate its dominance and establish its own rules.
“The feeling of peaceful resolution pushes Russia to intensify strikes on both civilian and residential objects to showcase its terrorist nature. This is the most optimal way for it to establish its power in the former post-Soviet space,” Posternak believes.
The political technologist calls on European leaders and the American president to discuss this issue, as the situation is extraordinary. Russia sustains its terror tactics, which gives it a sense of initiative in this conflict.
“Putin understands that terror is the most effective way for him to psychologically influence and demonstrate his power in the war. This is Russia's face, and similar actions should likely be expected in the future if the situation remains unresolved,” Posternak stressed.
Recently, the Russian army struck Ukrainian cities with missiles and drones, causing destruction and fires across the country.
