Russia used a drone-miner in the Sumy region: a new threat.
According to inkorr.com: In the Okhtyrka district of the Sumy region, the use of an advanced model of the drone 'Geran-2', which is equipped with a mechanism for remote mining, has been recorded. This creates dangerous conditions in the areas of its application, reports 'Glavcom' with reference to the Okhtyrka city council.
Facts of drone use
The improved weapon was used last week near the village of Pologi. Experts found that there is not only the main combat unit under the drone but also a mechanism for placing mines. In this case, the drone was loaded with anti-tank mines.
Attack on Sumy
It is worth recalling that the Russian troops attacked the city of Sumy. As a result of the strike, the roof of the perinatal center caught fire. As noted by the head of the President's Office Andriy Yermak and the city mayor Artem Kobzar, at the time of the attack, there were 11 children, 35 mothers, and 120 medical staff in the center who managed to take shelter in time.
Use of new technologies
It should be noted that this is not the first case of the use of 'Geran-2'. Russian troops have already used these drones in the Kyiv region in 2023, along with 'shaheds'. Also, according to widespread data, drones of the 'lanсet' type are manufactured by a Russian company.
The use of an advanced model of a drone in the Sumy region and the attack on the perinatal center in Sumy underscore the danger of modern combat technologies for the civilian population. The Russian troops are introducing new models of drones that cause harm and threaten the lives of citizens, emphasizing the importance of international reactions to these provocations.
