Southern Ukraine Endures Massive Barrage: Zaporizhzhia Region Hit 962 Times.
Russian Forces Launch Widespread Attacks Across Ukraine
According to Novyny.live: Over the past day, Russian military forces carried out numerous assaults on multiple Ukrainian regions, including Mykolaiv, Dnipropetrovsk, and Zaporizhzhia. The attacks primarily involved drones, artillery, and airstrikes, marking a continued pattern of aggression against civilian areas. These southern and eastern regions have been frequent targets since the full-scale invasion began in February 2022.
Mykolaiv Region: Drone Assaults and Civilian Damage
The Mykolaiv region experienced intense attacks. Five 'Shahed 131/136' drones were reportedly destroyed or suppressed there. According to Vitaliy Kim, head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration,
"yesterday, the enemy attacked the Ochakiv and Kutsurub communities seven times with FPV drones."These assaults resulted in two medics being injured when a drone struck their vehicle. Furthermore, Ivan Fedorov reported 64 instances of damage to homes, vehicles, and infrastructure objects.
Dnipropetrovsk Region: Sustained Strikes on Key Cities
The shelling of the Dnipropetrovsk region also caused significant harm. Two districts, specifically Kryvyi Rih and Nikopol, came under fire. This indicates a continuation of deliberate attacks on civilian objects in this area.
Zaporizhzhia Region Bears the Brunt of the Assault
The bombardment of Zaporizhzhia was even more extensive. Russian troops struck 962 times across 38 settlements, highlighting a severe escalation of the conflict in this region. Additionally, 17 airstrikes were conducted against several Zaporizhzhia oblast towns. On the night of March 7, Russian forces employed 29 missiles and 480 drones, pointing to the large-scale use of aerial weaponry.
These events underscore the dire situation in Ukraine, where attacks on civilians and infrastructure persist. The rising intensity of shelling signals a dangerous escalation with serious potential consequences for the civilian population and local infrastructure. Such tactics appear part of a Russian strategy to undermine morale and exert comprehensive pressure. The continuation of this aggression risks deepening the humanitarian crisis and further destabilizing the country.
