Ukraine's Major Cities Targeted in Major Russian Missile Barrage.
Major Ukrainian Cities Hit by Sustained Missile Attack
According to UATV: On February 3, Russia launched a massive missile assault against multiple Ukrainian cities, as confirmed by EU Ambassador to Ukraine Katarina Maternova. The attack, which lasted for six hours in Kharkiv, struck the capital Kyiv, Kharkiv, Odesa, and five other regions, causing significant alarm among the civilian population. This assault is part of a broader pattern of Russian strikes targeting energy and civilian infrastructure, particularly during the winter months.
Weaponry Deployed in the Assault
The bombardment involved a wide array of missiles and drones, including:
- Four 'Zircon' and 'Onyx' cruise missiles
- 32 ballistic missiles, including 'Iskander-M' and S-300 systems
- Seven Kh-22 and Kh-32 cruise missiles
- 28 Kh-101 and 'Iskander-K' cruise missiles
In addition, Russian forces deployed 450 attack drones, including models identified as 'Shahed', 'Gerbera', and 'Italmas'.
Ambassador Maternova described the intensity of the night, sharing her personal experience:
“Today I slept in the bathroom. Again. It was a very loud night.” - Katarina Maternova
She emphasized that such attacks are not a side effect of the war but a deliberate component of Russian strategy, which weaponizes winter temperatures by targeting heat and electricity supplies. This incident underscores the severe threat posed by Russia's ongoing missile campaigns against Ukrainian cities and civilian infrastructure. The international community continues to monitor these escalations closely, as they represent a clear violation of international humanitarian law and deepen the humanitarian crisis.
