Humanitarian Missions Under Fire in Sumy Oblast

According to Novyny.live: In Ukraine's Sumy region, Russian forces targeted a police evacuation unit known as 'White Angel' and a vehicle operated by the 'Berehynia' social service center. The attack occurred in the Buryn community of Konotop district. A strike FPV drone destroyed the 'Berehynia' vehicle, but fortunately, no casualties were reported, according to Artem Kobzar.

Aftermath of the Assault

Strikes hit the Zarichny and Kovpakivsky districts, damaging an apartment building, a private residence, a parking lot, and a gas station. One strike at the parking lot completely burned a car and damaged roughly ten others. Rescue teams evacuated around 40 people from a nine-story building in the affected area.

“This incident underscores the dangers civilians and service personnel face amid active hostilities,” said Artem Kobzar.

Reports confirm that the overnight Russian attack destroyed the 'Berehynia' social services vehicle. The event highlights the escalating situation in Sumy Oblast, where Russian shelling continues to endanger civilian lives.

  • Targeting humanitarian missions—such as social service centers—demonstrates a failure to distinguish between military and civilian objectives.
  • Such actions violate international humanitarian law.
  • These developments underscore the urgent need for enhanced protection of civilians and humanitarian personnel in conflict zones.
