Russians block IAEA access to ZNPP: threat to nuclear security.
According to inkorr.com: Russian troops are complicating access for representatives of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to the new dam of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant. This complicates monitoring the water level in the canals and the reactor cooling system, which is critically important in the current unstable nuclear situation.
Statement from the IAEA Director General
'Our access to this dam is very important for assessing the situation with cooling water, especially considering the difficult conditions at the ZNPP,' emphasized IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi.
Moreover, international observers are having difficulty accessing the turbine hall of one of the reactor units at the plant. These restrictions raise serious concerns about nuclear safety, given previous violations in this area that occurred during the temporary occupation.
Safety Issues
The restricted access for international experts to the dam and turbine hall at the Zaporizhzhia NPP threatens the safety of nuclear facilities under temporary occupation and requires urgent resolution of the situation.
These recent events highlight the importance of international control over nuclear installations in conditions of conflict. Monitoring the situation at the ZNPP is crucial for both the local population and the international community, which is concerned about the potential consequences of nuclear dangers.
