Ukraine's Role in European Defense Integration

According to UATV: Andrius Kubilius, the European Union's Defense Commissioner, has called for Ukraine to be incorporated into a newly emerging European defense system. He emphasized that the war experience Ukraine has gained is crucial for strengthening security across Europe. In his own words,

“integrating Ukraine into this new system is very necessary”
.

It is worth noting that Ukraine plans to produce approximately 10 million drones for defense purposes in 2023. This highlights the country's intensified efforts in defense technology, which could significantly bolster its standing within the broader context of European security.

Threats from Russia

Kubilius also pointed out that Russia remains a long-term threat to Europe. Latvian President Edgars Rinkēvičs has expressed concerns that Moscow may be preparing provocations against the Baltic states. These remarks underscore the importance of Ukraine collaborating with the European Union to strengthen defensive capabilities and respond to Russian threats.

In light of the pressing challenges Europe currently faces, integrating Ukraine into the European defense system could have a positive impact on regional stability and security.

As Andrius Kubilius has argued, Ukraine's integration into the European defense system would not only enhance its own defensive capacity but also raise the overall level of security in Europe. Given modern threats like Russian aggression, cooperation between Ukraine and the EU has become an essential part of strategic planning to ensure stability in the region.
