Russian Army Imposes Shell Restrictions: What It Means for the Frontline.
New Limits on Ammunition Use by Russian Forces
According to UATV: In June, the Russian military placed new constraints on how their artillery units can use shells. This development highlights the effectiveness of Ukrainian Defense Forces in targeting enemy supply lines, making it harder for Russia to carry out offensive operations. Vladyslav Voloshyn, a spokesperson for the Southern Defense Forces of Ukraine, confirmed this information, underscoring the gravity of the situation on the battlefield.
Military analyst Serhiy Hrabsky noted that these restrictions point to a weakening of enemy pressure, particularly along the southern front. He also stressed that without physically cutting off the land corridor, controlling the situation will remain difficult. In the expert’s view, these conditions give Ukrainian forces a window to stabilize the frontline and eventually launch selective counteroffensive actions.
“We are destroying the three-part logistics chain—striking supply logistics, storage logistics, and evacuation logistics.” — Serhiy Hrabsky
Additionally, Ukrainian Defense Forces struck the 'Semykolodeznyanska' oil depot in Crimea, further complicating the situation for Russian troops. Hrabsky added, “In this way, the Crimean group can and should find itself trapped.” He emphasized that when Ukrainian forces began their counterattack, “none of us believe that at that moment the number of Ukrainian troops quantitatively exceeded the Russian force.”
The Critical Role of Logistics in Modern Warfare
These ammunition restrictions demonstrate that Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to deliver significant blows to enemy logistics, which in turn undermines Russia’s ability to conduct active combat operations.
The events underscore how vital logistics are in contemporary conflicts, where control over supplies and resources can drastically shape the course of operations. With the constraints imposed by the Ukrainian side on Russian forces, new tactical opportunities are likely to emerge for Ukrainian troops, potentially leading to further shifts in the front-line dynamics.
