800,000 Books Destroyed in Russian Strike on BookChef Warehouse.
Overnight attack hits logistics hub
According to Espreso.tv: A Russian strike on July 2 destroyed the central warehouse of Denka Logistics, the logistics partner for the publishing house BookChef. The attack resulted in the loss of roughly 800,000 books, severely disrupting the publisher's operations.
Company representative Oleksandr Kirpichov stated: 'For the time being, we are unable to receive, process, or ship orders as usual.'
This highlights the devastating impact the attack has had on the publisher's supply chain.
Strikes across multiple regions
On the same night of July 2, Russian forces also targeted other areas, including:
- Kyiv
- Kherson
- Dnipropetrovsk region
- Zaporizhzhia
- Kharkiv region
Despite the massive material losses, no employees of Denka Logistics were injured during the assault.
This incident underscores not only the economic toll of the war but also its impact on Ukraine's cultural sector, particularly the publishing industry. The destruction of such a vast number of books will limit readers' access to literature and likely harm BookChef's financial stability. Targeting civilian infrastructure shows how the ongoing conflict directly affects society at large.
