Russian gymnast Listunova again requests neutral status: application details

According to inkorr.com: Russian gymnast Victoria Listunova has once again applied to the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) for a neutral status to compete in international competitions. This was reported by 'Glavkom'.

Situation regarding neutral status

In March, FIG denied Listunova neutral status. 'We have applied for neutral status again, and I am currently in a waiting stage. But there is some unpleasant feeling about everything,' the gymnast said.

Gymnast's past

In 2022, Listunova participated in a rally in support of the war, displaying the letter 'Z' on her clothing along with Vladimir Putin. She also posted on Instagram about raising funds for Russian gymnast Kravchenko, whose father, an occupant, was killed in Ukraine.

It was reported that Russian freestyler Anastasia Tatalina addressed the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) requesting to allow her to participate in the 2026 Olympic Games. Tatalina is a member of the Russian military club CSKA, an organization directly linked to Russia's military actions in Ukraine. 'I represent Russia, and I was proud when the President of Russia Vladimir Vladimirovich (Putin) sent me a telegram after winning the world championship,' she said in April 2022. Tatalina liked a post with the Russian military slogan 'we don't abandon our own.'

Ukraine's stance

Ukrainian athletes and federations continue to fight against the participation of Russian athletes who support Russia's aggression. The inclusion of such athletes in international competitions remains a contentious issue that requires special attention and decisive action from sports organizations.

The situation regarding the neutral status of Russian athletes sparks numerous discussions in the global sports community. International federations continuously monitor the implementation of sports principles, but it remains unclear how to adapt these principles to the current situation.
